Mary Astor house

Postby ignasi » Sun Aug 03, 2008 4:08 am

Is it true that Denny lived at Mary Astor mansion?
Is that the Appian Way house, or is another house?
Thank you!

Hi John,
That's right, I forgot about that! Didn't he live there for something like 18 months?
Take care,

Yes, Denny bought actress Mary Astor's house on Appian Way (at the top of a hill) in the fall of 1966 for around $55,000 which included all of the furniture, knick-knacks etc. This was after Michelle was re-instated in the group and the money really started pouring in. John and Michelle bought their mansion in Bel-Air around the same time. Interestingly enough I read recently that the house has fallen into decline and is supposedly haunted - go figure?!

I was discussing this house recently with Jessica Doherty Woods. She was wondering if anyone has any pics of the house from when her dad lived there, other than this one.

She said that picture came from a magazine article entitled "Denny at Home," but she didn't know what magazine the article was from, and she's trying to locate the article. Anyone have any info?

The photo (I think, ArsNova, I cannot be sure because when I access the board what you paste does not show up) is one that I think I shared with Jessica. It's from a newsprint type circular--something along the lines of PARADE Magazine, as I recall- and I think from Canada. The phot was taken by Pat LaCroix and the negative was lost in a fire.

There is another photo I have somewhere of Denny in front of the turret at the house in his car and I have a few black and whites of him from a magazine with his sheepdog.
