Just ran across this:

The Sounds of Atlantic Canada [IMPORT]
8. Song for the Mira (Denny Doherty)
Although most of these recordings have been previously released, some are now hard to find. One, Allister MacGillivray’s Song for the Mira, is a new recording by Denny Doherty, Halifax’s native son and a member of the legendary sixties supergroup The Mamas and the Papas.

Anyone have this?

Dave

Dave hi,

I have had this track for some time now. Quite frankly, I've no recollection how I came about it but I must say it is one of Denny's most beautiful vocals I've ever heard. Was hard not to get emotional whilst listening to it in the immediate aftermath of his death. If you've listened to the lyrics then you'll know exactly what I mean.

Hope some of Mr. Doherty's lost treasures (and we know there are several) do end up seeing the light of day.

All the best

Eran

I whole-heartedly agree with Eran about this gorgeous song; the lyrics are so poignant, and Denny's delivery is... stellar. Actually, since his death, I haven't been able to listen to this without crying. Beautiful song...

Maybe we'll get those Columbia recordings someday!!! The man was a treasure.
