I guess it is. Here's a link for the release with a release date:

Looks like RBC will be providing liner notes. Naughty, naughty Mr. C for not staunching the bleeding earlier and letting us know about (or at least hinting at) this ;) . Will they be releasing the DVD as well?

Happy, happy, joy, joy,
jcg

No holding out here, it's just a very truthful statement that these things often come together in the 11th hour.

I was happy to provide research and notes for this celebratory release.

I have to differ with the person who stated there's nothing new on this CD versus the rerelease of this album nearly 15 years ago. The Hits Medley and "Don't Make Me A Memory" are both heretofore unreleased gems and add to the Cass Catalog/Canon and this particular album in a wonderful new way.

As for "Give A Little Laughter"---a number of session sheets from the period indicate that Cass did record this at RCA. But sadly it cannot be found. From what I understand multiple efforts were made to find it.

We'll be happy with what can be found.

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your reply. I do unequivocally believe some things come together at the 11th hour.

First, the good news: I will absolutely be getting this. Anything new that throws light on our beloved chanteusse's legacy will always be welcomed by me. Especially when probably her preeminent historian contributes to the proceedings.

I have not read the comment by whoever protested there was nothing new on this release: clearly, that is not the case; however, let me explain why I, too, am underwhelmed by this release (despite my "happy, happy, joy, joy," which I sincerely mean). After the embarrassment of riches that comprised the CD twofer of Cass' first two RCA albums and the DVD of her first television special in 2009, I expected a serious mining of Cass' audio and video legacy. In fact, this was hinted at by Owen:

Owen Elliot-Kugell wrote:I do know that my Mom recorded studio versions of everything that ended up on DCMMA....hopefully we will be able to put them all on the next re-release... :D

While I acknowledge that music rights and licencing fees can be prohibitive and can halt the most heartfelt project dead on, the fact remains that there is an abundance of material available that would have made this release truly epic and really special. And, at the risk of giving too much away, some of us are too long-in-the-tooth to have the luxury of waiting for a definitive release. As much as I love Cass, I have a sick feeling that there is a ton of essential material that I'll never get the chance to hear.

Yay, though,
jcg
