Hi Guys,
Firstly sorry its taken soo long to get back to y'all about Casey's show, my computer blew up the following day while I was trying to write this!! Anyway, all round it was a good show. Casey did a little commentry on cass and preformed the songs well, although only the well known ones from the M&P's but she also threw in "I dig rock n roll music" and "One way ticket".
I got to speak with her after the show and she is a total Cass'ette' like the rest of us, absolutely loves her, although she knows a great deal about her time with the mamas & papas she has yet to really get into Cass' solo years. Needless to say I pointed her in the right direction as far as CDs Books etc.
I really hope that one day casey can turn this into a proper Cass Elliot show, not just Mama Cass, which is great to bring people in but she has the potential to take this much further and give our Lady and herself the full recognition they deserve.
The audience at the show loved it, and got up to dance during her final numbers. I hope Richard and Owen take note of this young lady when it comes time to cast Cass in a M&P or Cass Bio-pic, in the right makeup, wig and costume Casey knocks this out of the Park, she would be perfect casting for cass with the right people advising her along the way, shes the right age, height, weight etc.
Some lovely person has posted this footage on U tube taken at the Basement I think, she's doing Words of Love.
Enjoy,

Thanks for sharing Adam. I've made several attempts to reach out to Ms. Donovan. All have gone unanswered.

Casey Donovan is at it again with
Casey Donovan: Mama Cass the tribute concert

Casey Donovan is a tour de force in Mama Cass: The Tribute Concert. Casey and her band bring new life to the legendary music of Mama Cass (Cass Elliott) and her superstar band The Mamas and the Papas. This is a fitting tribute and perfect showcase of Casey Donovan’s virtuosity.

Mama Cass (1941 – 1974) was well-known for her powerful voice, her iconic 60s style, and her fabulous sense of humour. Her legacy remains with such classic recordings as Dream a Little Dream of Me, California Dreaming, Monday Monday and Dedicated to the One I love.

Mama Cass: the Tribute Concert is both a powerhouse performance and an intimate encounter. Allow Casey to share with you the music, memories and big personality of this inspirational singer.

Aria and Deadly Award winning performer, Casey Donovan, rose to success as the winner of the second series of Australian Idol. Since then this Gumbaynggir woman has made an indelible mark on the Australian theatre and music scenes, including standout performances in Company B Belvoir and Black Swan State Theatre Company’s The Sapphires and her Big, Beautiful & Sexy tour. Casey returns to the House with her rendition of Mama Cass from the musical theatre production Flowerchildren.

To quote Mama Cass “Our job as entertainers is to ease some pain. So to begin with, you have to know what and where the pain is.”

“The best performance comes from Casey Donovan, built on the lines of Mama Cass, whose Franklin covers achieve extraordinary poignancy and power” Telegraph, UK on Donovan’s Sapphires performance.

Venue: Studio The Sydney Opera House 2012
Date: Tuesday 27 March, 7.30pm & Wednesday 28 March, 8.15pm
