I know that the fact that half of the new Wilson-Phillips album, Dedicated, consisting of songs of The Mamas and The Papas is of much interest to many here.

Of even more likely interest is the fact that our own Owen Elliot-Kugell makes a special and stunning vocal outing on their rendition of "Dedicated To The One I Love"

Here's a recent press report of that reality. The album debuts tomorrow.

Tragic Mamas & The Papas star Cass Elliot's daughter Owen appears on the new Wilson Phillips album, Dedicated, which is a tribute to the music of the trio's famous parents.

Elliot's offspring sang her mother's part on the cover of Dedicated to the One I Love, and stunned the Wilson Phillips girls with her voice.

Chynna Phillips says, "She sounds just like Cass."

And the cover was almost too much for Phillips' mother Michelle, who was one of the late Elliot's bandmates.

Chynna adds, "She burst into tears when she heard it... Absolutely lost it."

Yes, yes, yes...."Dedicated to the One I Love" is out of this world. Owen sounds great. What glorious harmonies! I think that song is tied for best track with Good Vibrations. I think "Twelve-Thirty" is awesome also.

I wish Owen would post here and share what it was like recording that song and singing her mom's part. It must have meant so much to her. I think it is so cool that Owen and Chynna recorded this for us.

I agree as well. The whole album is great, but "Dedicated" is my favorite. Owen sounds so clear and strong, just like her mother! The girls did a fabulous job!! :)

Just wanted to say how much I love Wilson Phillips version of Dedicated. Great harmonies, and a fitting tribute to our favourite pop group. Rich.

I can only whole-heartedly agree with what others have posted here. When the song gets to that particular line, "And it's something that everybody needs", and Owen's vocal is center stage, I got chills all over. Glorious, just glorious. Definitely my favorite from the album, with "God Only Knows" coming in second behind it.

No argument from me here. WP's rendition of "Dedicated" ins nothing short of a stunning, stellar tribute to what I prefer to think of as the original (I know it isn't but work with me, still :) )

I appreciated the way Owen's gorgeous vocal was incorporated so seamlessly into the the track and even more so, I appreciate the fact that she had only done one track and oh-so tastefully. On the one hand, I would have loved nothing more than to have heard her featured on the entire album, however, at the same time, I can't help but respect the fact she avoided going down the "I'm covering my mother's music now" route, though I don't doubt she would have done a Class A job at that too. It made the taste of this tribute just perfect.

Personally, for me, 'Twelve Thirty'' blows me away time after time. What the girls had succeeded most in doing with their version, I feel, was to recapture this explosion of emotion and harmony that the original packed, going in from intro verse into first chorus and of course, the last bridge as well. I got nearly the same chills I did listening to this version as I did, 21 years ago when I first heard the original.

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments!!

Recording "dedicated" with the girls was amazing. We worked at Carnie's home studio, and it was a fantastic atmosphere!! Intimate and warm...I hope the recording reflects that!

Having been around when Wilson Phillips was in it's infancy, it was full circle to sing together. To be honoring from whence we came was icing on the cake!!
