Do hard core Mamas and Papas fans, such as myself, deserve to have better access to the alternative mix of this album than through a missed public television drive? I say yes!! Any movement on this?

Thank you- I will look for them. Someone from this site previously claimed to have done the same thing, but the link didn't work, making me suspect that it had been removed. The link to sample snippets did work, however, allowing me, however briefly to hear these astonishing alternative takes. Thanks again fellow m +p fan!

Found them via Youtube. Asronishing! It may be the newness of these remixes for me, but it's like a new Mamas and Papas album. With the exception of a couple of the songs, the re-mixes sound so much more vibrant and rich. Why were Cass' vocals so subdued on the original album? They are so wonderful on these remixes! The theory that it was because of health problems is shown to be wrong in these re-mixes. I don't want to believe that John was being vindictive or something either. He was such a perfectionist that one would think that he wanted the best possible sound from the group as it would be a reflection on him as leader. I always liked the original album, though had to agree that it wasn't on par with the other four albums. I think these remixes put it on par with the other four albums! What a tragedy! This was one of the greatest vocal groups of all time (my personal favorite vocal group).

Perhaps the way the album was initially mixed was rushed due to it being recorded as contractual obligation? Just a thought.
