The chart success of the Mamas and Papas in the USA and my native UK are well documented, but I've been wondering how successful they were in other countries. Recently I've been reading on the net about their Australian success.
1967
Words of love reached #6
Dedicated to the one #5
Creeque Alley #5
12.30 #26

1968 (solo Cass)
Dream a little dream #1 !!!

1969
Move in a little closer #33

1970 (solo John)
Mississippi #15

I can't find any Aussie info before 1967 sadly.
 Does anyone have any info re their Canadian chart success, or other countries.
Many thanks, Rich.

Hi Rich,
Cool post. It's interesting to see how the group did in other countries. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to your question. However, maybe Billboard has an archive you could search to find out. Sorry I'm not that much help. Good luck. :D
Take care,
Nicole

I've just found some info about their Canadian success, on the RPM site which is the official Canadian pop chart.
California Dreamin #3
Monday Monday #1
I saw her again #1
Look through my window #5
Words of love #3
Dedicated #3
Creeque alley #1
12:30 #14
Glad to be unhappy #6
Dancing bear #13
Safe in my garden #30
Ivy #55
Do you wanna dance #37

Cass (solo)
Dream a little dream #7
California earthquake #51
Move in a little closer #42
Getting better #30
Make your own kind #20
New world coming #22

Many of these were bigger hits in Canada than the USA :!: Look through my window and Glad to be unhappy were 20 places higher in Canada, and Dancing bear was a flop in the US but made top 20 in Canada. Monday was their only US #1, but they had 3 #1's on Canada. Deliver was a #1 LP in Canada, but I can't find any info about other LPs. If anyne knows more please add it here. :) Rich.

Richard - thanks so much for this info, it's fantastic. Great to see that there were so many number ones, etc. I thought I'd remembered that "I Saw Her Again" was no. 1 locally in Baltimore (my home town), even though only #5 on Billboard.
best
