New Biography Coming

"John Phillips, Authorized
St. Martin's Press acquired an authorized biography of the Mamas and the Papas frontman and one-time tabloid fixture, John Phillips. Executive editor Kathy Huck bought North American rights to Chris Campion's Wolfking from Peter McGuigan at Foundry Literary + Media. Campion (Walking on the Moon) is writing the book—the title refers to Phillips's first solo album—with Jeffery A. Greenberg. The book will be the first about the musician authorized by the Phillips estate—Phillips died in 2001—and will follow his musical career and more recent bouts with infamy after his daughter, Mackenzie Phillips, disclosed she had an affair with him in her memoir released last fall. Wolfking is currently scheduled for spring 2012. "

Wow, what fantastic news. The only thing I didn't like about John autobiography was that it didn't get updated towards the end of his life or go past 1986. Other than that I absolutely loved it. But this is great news nonetheless. Besides an announcement for an upcoming cd release, this is what I've been waiting for. Well, an announcement of a boxed set would the greatest.

Call me impatient, but, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS BOOK! Does anyone have any inside news on a release date yet? And did Richard have any imput into it?

No one should hold their breath. Look for upcoming news on the Mamas and Papas biopic and other exciting projects in the works...that's all I can say.
