Hi Nicole,
I feel your anticipation/frustration. I've been breathlessly awaiting the release of Cass' "Don't Call Me Mama Anymore" CD and DVD sets and have been fishing this site for information on it for years to no avail. As a Cass Elliot super-fan, I wish someone in the know would give us a bone regarding upcoming releases. As wonderfully talented as Cass is, anyone with even a slight awareness of pop culture can see that the music scene that Cass once ruled over has changed. Today, the average "artist" has the lifespan of a tsetsi fly and the gravitas of a 'knock-knock' joke. I'm afraid that without sonic representation in an increasingly ephemeral culture with the memory span of a zygote, the music of Cass Elliot will be at risk of being relegated to the dust bins of history-- replaced by the latest synthesizer noodling or assonant, vocoder-inundated warble. That would be a tragedy. Oh, and those of us who love Cass are not getting any younger.
Whew! Sorry about the tangent. In any case, I hope it illustrates that I do, indeed, feel your anticipation/frustration! I don't know anything new about the Phillips bio, but I will keep an eye out.
take care,
jcg
