What good thing happened
Seventy years ago
A handsome little fella was born
Down in Halifax
Don'tcha know

Charming and witty
Funny and with smile
Good looking
Sometimes mischeivious
Never vile

His voice swooned and carried
Many women went a flutter
It soothed liked a lullaby
Rocked like no other

Many a story did he tell
Animated and clever
He captured well

But at last
You're gone
Certainly not forgotten
How someone could not appreciate you
Something in their head has gone rotten

Smile down upon us
From the depths of Heaven
Sing softly your spirit free
Forever we have your gift of songs
Thankyou for your legacy

Blow out your candles now
Make your silent wish
Happy Birthday Denny
We Love You
