Incredibly rare treat

Postby Eran » Mon Feb 18, 2013 3:34 pm

Just now, I discovered by complete, total chance this incredibly wonderful and (at least speaking for myself) never-ever before heard, beautiful song.

Had to share. Just had to share. That this was never on any album or chart is simply criminal.

Enjoy!

And what do you think?

It is a great performance. I had seen it previously.

It's so her.

From the research I did on it a number of years ago, I believe it is "I Am Now" by Victor Millrose and Alan Bernstein (who wrote, among other things, "This Girl Is a Woman Now" for Gary Puckett & The Union Gap).

Hi Eran & Nicole.......Yes....a beautiful and rare treat indeed, as are the other tracks this person and others have posted recently of unseen Cass footage, at least unseen for about 30-40 years.....I enjoyed this very much, absolutely awesome, thanks for sharing !!!! I agree, with the sentiments you've both said, and more folks need to realize and discover Cass and discover how true music really sounds and how it has meaning.....

I just found several of these new, "rare performances" of Cass. Several great songs, love them all.
Not only did Cass have an amazing voice, but she was such a good performer and entertainer.
I totally agree the one song...My Life...or My Way?..it should have been recorded.
The One Way Ticket performance is outstanding and it sounds even better without the back up vocals!
Thank you so much to the person who has shared these treasures...I believe they are from England.
Keep posting these jewels!!

Re: Incredibly rare treat--I AM NOW

Postby Rbcsoup » Tue Feb 26, 2013 8:30 am

I heard from Victor Millrose (Alan Bernstein died in the late 1970's) last week and he confirmed that the song is theirs and is titled "I Am Now." A little account of Cass' connection with it---

Millrose and Alan Bernstein were up at the publishing wing of Mercury Records with the then head of the department named Joel Diamond (who went on to manage/produce Englebert Humperdink). Cass was also visiting at the time and Alan Bernstein struck up a playful/witty conversation with her. Joel Diamond played her "I Am Now," she liked it and agreed to sing it on the upcoming Andy Williams show. Victor's wife insists that Cass sang the song on another show as well and thinks it may have been Carson. Victor wishes she had recorded it as he believes it could have been a big song for her. As he puts it, "she certainly nailed it in the TV
performance."

Hi Richard...
Thankyou once more for providing us, with a little extra in regards to this particular song which is definitely a Cass song that deascribes her to a " T "...and only further wishing that indeed, the song should havebeen recorded , but we'll make do with this bit on Youtube and wherever else it may be.

Thanks, I was wondering what the actual title was. Does anyone know the correct title of the duet she sing with Buddy Hackett in her 1969 tv special :?: Thanks, Rich.
